Today I am thrilled to introduce Suze Trappitt the founder of Cherished Cherub Babysitting. Suze is an expert when it come to children and looking after them. She is my top pick for babysitting. She has incredible babysitters and great prices. Seriously if you need a date night or a night off she your lady. I am so pleased to have met this incredible lady. Thank you Suze for a great interview.
Suze and children have always gone hand in hand. With a career in childcare, her own children and dozens of foster children that have gone through her home, Cherished Cherubs Babysitting is just another arm of where her enthusiasm lies.
Cherished Cherubs Babysitting is designed to help parents get some time out, to enhance their personal relationships, to attend appointments, or to meet work commitments, whilst knowing their kids are in the safest of hands in their home environment.
Please tell us what being a business owner means to you and why you became an business owner in the first place?
This was a lifestyle choice. With young children, running the long daycare days were too rushed and I wasn’t able to take them to appointments, attend school assemblies etc. I would have made more money in my previous job, but I am more about balance.
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?
I am very proud that we help so many families. I love that we have are viewed as the go to point for important agencies such as Dept for Child Protection & Cancer Council. We focus on the needs of both the children and the families, and our whole team hold the same values.
What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to our readers?
It takes time, and everyone’s time line is different. I could be a lot further along than I am with Cherished Cherubs Babysitting, but I have chosen to spend time with the family, on further study and work with the needs of the agency as they arise.
What has been the most effective marketing initiatives or programs you have used to promote your business?
Our website is by far our biggest marketing tool, and we are continually evaluating what we have on there.
A CRM has been great once I hit a certain point where I couldn’t practically follow through with every client. This will depend on your type of business and stage you are at.
If you were to write a book, what would the title be and why?
Life is about Experiences
I am a firm believer in this quote. Everything happens at different times for a reason, sometimes we don’t understand it at the time, but it is part of our path to get somewhere else.
Are there any resources or tools you’d like to share with other small business owners that have helped you run your business?
The cloud is fantastic as you have access to everything most of the time (I am at a babysitting job now as baby sleeps). All of our systems are on the cloud, our email, our docs are on google, our accounting is Xero which is cloud based, as is InfusionSoft, our CRM system.
What can we look forward to in the next year?
We would love if more people and organisations knew we existed. It’s about getting our name out there some more ☺
What do you do for fun/relaxation?
I love fostering newborns, so not sure you would call it relaxation, but it is fun. I also spend a lot of time running around with my tribe of kids. On the flip side, I have a motorbike which I like to take out to the country and it lets me unwind without kids around.
Possibly running day care centres at management level, but probably more inclined to go the community services sector to help those that need it most.
There are always going to be new things to learn, and to do and that can/will cause stress. Keep life in perspective.
Have you recently had a night off? If you could what would you do?
